When Eileen Chubb opened the phone
book looking for a summer job, she never imagined this decision would
change her life forever. From a history of retail work, her life
transformed into a tireless campaign for the protection of vulnerable
elderly people suffering systematic abuse. Having tried all legal
avenues and failed, she now heads Compassion In Care, a hotline for
whistleblowers in the care industry and The Whistler, a similar
organisation to help whistleblowers from all industries. She is also
an investigative Journalist and member of the NUJ. When I called her
up on the telephone this month, she told me her story, and that of
Edna a vulnerable and abused victim after whom Edna’s Law is named.
